Fabio Paratici gives Nuno Espirito Santo verdict and reveals why he is so passionate at games

Fabio Paratici has had plenty to do in his first two months as Tottenham's managing director of football.

Putting in the hours long before his official July start date, the ex-Juventus chief was working behind the scenes to help the club in their search for a new head coach and also the need to make key changes to the squad.

Following such a disappointing campaign last season as they once again missed out on a Champions League place, Spurs are currently top of the Premier League table after Nuno Espirito Santo guided them to three wins from three.

Opening up on the key changes that Spurs had to make in the summer transfer market, the 49-year-old praised the work Espirito Santo has done so far and has stated that he has helped reinvigorate the team.

"The window was hard for everybody. So, the pandemic affected a lot this kind of market," said Paratici in an interview on Tottenham's official website.

"We had an objective, a target, to renew the team. Young players, young talent with big potential and their hope is to win something with Tottenham - to win something with this great team.

"We have here a lot of players who, in my opinion, are big players that in the last two seasons have not been at their level of performance.

"So, our target, when me, Nuno and Steve (Hitchin, Technical Performance Director) met, was to reinvigorate the team, give more discipline, give more work in terms of physical work, more organisation, and Nuno did this kind of job very well."

On Nuno, he added: "He’s doing a great job rebuilding the team, rebuilding the environment.

"It’s so important to be committed and focussed on this, because it’s so important for the players' feeling."

What has become noticeable in Paratici's short time at the club is that he is incredibly passionate on a matchday.

Video footage from the Man City win published on social media highlighted just how animated he gets while watching Spurs games, with the Italian, who sits with Steve Hitchen, also seen getting very angry at Wolves after a decision went against the Lilywhites.

Asked about his passion for the game, Paratici explained that it shows the players that they are as one and pulling together in the same direction to achieve their end goal.

"I live my life every day with this energy. I like to feel every day what people are transmitting to me, I want to transmit at the same time to our people my energy, my positivity," he added.

"If the coach, me, Steve, Daniel, are there every day and we show our passion to arrive at the target, I think the players and the people in the dressing room think and understand we are there for one reason, to build something good and to be better than in the past. This is our target.

"My passion is my passion, so I’m happy to do it like this. I want to show this."
