Fabio Paratici explains why Tottenham will not bow to pressure to sign players

Tottenham's managing director Fabio Paratici has insisted the club will not bow to pressure to sign players for the sake of it.

Spurs added two first-team signings last month, Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal and Pedro Porro in a deal which will eventually be worth £40million.

A faction of supporters is frustrated at the pace of the club's rebuild and there have been chants calling for chairman Daniel Levy to go since the turn of the year.

Paratici says Spurs are in the midst of a "long-term project" and are following a clear plan for rebuilding Conte's squad.

"The January transfer window is every time not easy," Paratici told club media. "You can't have a choice of all the market - a lot of players are not available because they are playing or the other club is not happy to sell.

"We are happy we got our targets. We added two international players to our squad. We have to look not at the small picture of our transfer window but the big picture of our project. It's a long-term project.

"When I came here 18 months ago, we used the word 'rebuild' for the squad, to be competitive at the highest level of the Premier League. And we continue like this.

"Every transfer window we want to add two or three players to our squad, to our plan. We want to sign just players who can add something to us. Not just sign players because we have to sign players or because we're under pressure to sign players. That's not our style.

“We know our plans, we know our philosophy and we'll continue like this."
