AC Milan are reportedly considering Tottenham defender Serge Aurier as a potential signing ahead of next season.
According to calciomercato, Milan boss Stefano Pioli remains determined to strengthen the right-back berth at the San Siro.
Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot remains the priority, whilst Alvaro Odriozola is also an option on-loan.
However, Spurs defender Aurier is also under consideration and could potentially be a viable signing for Milan.
As per the reports, club director Frederic Massara already knows the Ivorian well and even attempted to sign him last season.
That interest is apparently set to be revived this summer with Aurier’s contract in north London continuing to tick down having fallen out of favour at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
His current deal expires next summer and the likelihood of him being rewarded with a new contract remains remote having made just 27 appearances in all competitions last season, only making 19 starts in the Premier League.
He was often not trusted by former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho before then regaining his place in the side under interim head coach Ryan Mason.
The former Paris Saint-Germain defender has made 110 appearances in all competitions for Spurs and is valued at £18m by transfermarkt.
Should Aurier depart the club and join Milan, Tottenham would be repeating the trick that took former midfielder Christian Eriksen to Serie A.
The Dane’s contract was set to expire in the summer of 2020 but Spurs managed to extract as much value as they could with a reported fee of £16.9m taking Eriksen to the San Siro, but this time to Milan’s historic rivals Inter.
Aurier has already admitted that he is eyeing a move away from Tottenham.
Speaking in May, he said: "I’ve reached the end of a cycle and it’s time to look elsewhere. The two parties, Tottenham’s board and my agents, have agreed upon the conditions. We’ll see after that.”
