Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic is close to signing a new contract at Fiorentina, according to the Italian club's director Joe Barone.
The 21-year-old, who has less than two years remaining on his deal in Florence, is a target for Spurs, who held talks with the Serbia international over the summer transfer window.
However, a move for Vlahovic, who is valued at £36million on football database Transfermarkt, never materialised despite Tottenham chief Fabio Paratici holding a keen interest in the forward.
Vlahovic has started this season in wonderful fashion, scoring five goals in six appearances in all competitions for the Italian side.
Now, Fiorentina director Barone has confirmed that the Serbian is close to putting pen-to-paper on an extension to his contract at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Barone said: "We're well set to extend Dusan Vlahovic's contract. There will be a new meeting to complete the agreement - but we're ready to give him a new contract."
Another man who was of interest to Spurs over the summer was Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez.
The Argentina international has just less than two years remaining on his deal at the San Siro, but his agent, Alejandro Camano told FC Inter 1908 recently that his client is happy with his situation right now and the Italian club are looking to tie him down to a new deal.
Camano said: “It’s not done yet, we are working with Inter and are really in sync. There are still a few details to be worked out before we can close the deal. We want to continue together and the important thing is Lautaro is very happy at Inter.”
So, it looks as if Tottenham could be about to miss out on two of their biggest transfer targets, with the Serie A duo set to sign new contracts with their respective clubs.
