Fabio Capello on the 'interesting project' that attracted Carlo Ancelotti to Everton

Fabio Capello believes the chance to take on an “interesting project” was the reason why Carlo Ancelotti joined Everton.

The Italian, who has won league titles in Europe's top leagues and enjoyed three Champions League successes, was confirmed as Everton's new manager before Christmas.

Ancelotti replaced Marco Silva who was sacked following a 5-2 hammering at the hands of Liverpool at the start of December.

The former Real Madrid and AC Milan boss has enjoyed a positive start to life at Goodison Park, picking up two wins and one defeat in his three games in charge.

Securing the services of Ancelotti was seen as a massive coup for the club’s hierarchy -  and Capello believes the Blues have got themselves a winner in the shape of the 60-year-old.

“I am very happy,” he told Italian publication Gazzetta Dello Sport, via Sports Witness , when asked about Ancelotti’s new job.

“Carlo will have understood that in that club you can work in a certain way and that there are the foundations for an interesting project.

“Wherever he has gone, he has won. Ancelotti has a fundamental talent: he knows how to manage the pressure.”
