Legendary Italian defender Fabio Cannavaro has given Cristiano Ronaldo a new nickname after his time in Juventus and return to Manchester United.
Regarded as one of the best defenders of all-time, Cannavaro spent three season at the Turin side, also having spells at Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Napoli and Parma.
In his time at Juventus, the side were unable to win any major trophies, as Inter Milan and AC Milan fought it out for the title for a six-year period.
Since 2011 though, the side known as The Old Lady have dominated the division — winning nine consecutive Serie A trophies.
In 2020 however, they finished fourth. And following the end of the season, Cristiano Ronaldo decided to leave the club, making a sensation return to United.
And this season, Juventus continue to struggle, something Cannavaro said he has seen coming.
Speaking to Il Corriere dello Sport, he said: "I was not surprised by their drop, I think it was inevitable."
He then dubbed Ronaldo a 'coach saviour' after his goals kept the club in a stable position throughout a rocky 2020/21 campaign.
Cannavaro may have also given him the nickname given what happened under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford earlier this season, with Ronaldo's goals bailing out the Norwegian on a few occasions — until his sacking a month ago.
He added: "Don’t forget that they [Juventus] lost the coach-saviour, Cristiano Ronaldo. With him, they started every game 1-0 up.
"Juventus must deal with the decline of a few players and with a few struggling youths."
