Fabinho wants to 'welcome Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool' as he makes Ballon d'Or claim

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho believes that PSG's Kylian Mbappe will win the Ballon d'Or before his teammate Neymar.

And he also said he would love the 21-year-old to join him on Merseyside in the future as speculation continues to grow over his future.

Fabinho and Mbappe played together at Monaco, and were instrumental in helping the French side to the Champions League semi-finals in the 2016-2017 season.

That summer they both moved on, and Mbappe has gone on to become one of the best forwards in the world at PSG.

And speaking to French outlet Telefoot Fabinho said he believes Mbappe will one day win the Ballon d'Or, before tipping one of his Liverpool teammates to also claim the prestigious individual prize.

"Mbappe will have a Ballon d'Or before Neymar," Fabinho said. "I would like to welcome him at Liverpool.

"Sadio Mane deserved the Ballon d'Or. He is the best player at Liverpool."

Fabinho has been out of action since November after injuring his ankle in a Champions League game against Napoli, but he is nearing full fitness again, and could feature in the Reds' clash against rivals Manchester United next weekend.

When asked about his side's prospects for the rest of the season, he was bullish in his response, saying: "Liverpool will be champion yes. It's the best team in the world.

"Finish the season invincible? There are no plans to lose. Klopp is the best coach in the world."

Fabinho's comments on Mbappe will restart rumours linking the player with a move to Liverpool, with Real Madrid likely to try to rival the Reds for his signature in the summer.

Mbappe has been in sensational form this season, scoring 11 goals in 13 Ligue 1 matches as well as five goals in the Champions League, including a hat-trick against Club Brugge.
