Fabinho snubbed Man Utd, Man City and PSG for Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp meeting

Fabinho turned down both Manchester clubs and PSG to join Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp challenged him to become a Reds regular.

The Brazilian has more than justified his £39m fee having moved from Monaco last summer.

Fabinho had a host of Europe's elite chasing his signature after he impressed during Monaco's title winning season in 2017.

But when he sat down in Klopp the German showed him exactly how he would fit into the Liverpool XI and from then on he was sold.

"Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United , Manchester City and Juventus also talked to his agent, but it was Liverpool that made all the effort to sign him,” Ricardo Assis, Fabinho’s brother-in-law, told the Telegraph.

“Klopp showed him videos of the team, explained why he wanted to sign him but he also made it clear that it wouldn’t be straightforward for him to be a regular starter from the beginning. Fabinho left the meeting determined to join Liverpool”.

Fabinho is yet to taste defeat in the Premier League when starting a game as Liverpool look poised to end a three decade wait for a league title.

The 26-year-old made 41 appearances last season at the base of the midfield, but also filling in as a central defender when necessary, as the English side won the European Cup for a sixth time.

His importance to Klopp's game plan is without question and the German opted to rest Fabinho for Liverpool's trip to Aston Villa earlier this month amid fears a booking would rule him out of their win against Manchester City.

The Brazilian thumped home the opener in the Reds' recent win at Anfield - only his second goal in a Liverpool shirt.

Crystal Palace are next up for Klopp's side as they look to maintain their eight-point lead at the top.
