Fabinho's wife Rebeca Tavares sends Liverpool fans VAR message after dramatic Aston Villa win

Fabinho's wife Rebeca Tavares has mocked VAR after Liverpool snatched a dramatic last-gasp victory over Aston Villa at Anfield this afternoon.

Recently-omitted England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold struck in added-time as the Reds picked up a precious three points amid their ongoing top-four battle in the Premier League.

However, that drama was preceded by controversy as Roberto Firmino saw a would-be equaliser ruled out by the much-maligned video system.

On the back of an Ollie Watkins opener for Villa, Liverpool thought they had got back on terms as the Brazil striker turned into the net following an initial strike from Scotland captain Andrew Robertson.

However, the officials at Anfield brought back play and chalked off that goal - with Diogo Jota deemed to be in an offside position in the buildup play.

In the end, though, that contentious call thankfully paled into insignificance - at least in terms of shaping the outcome of the game - as Mohamed Salah and Alexander-Arnold ultimately settled the game in Liverpool's favour.

Even so, reaction to the decision, which Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker slammed, has been highly critical, as highlighted by a tweet from Fabinho's wife.

Taking to social media shortly after the full-time whistle, Tavares said: "Not this time VAR... +3."

Indeed, it was a much-needed three points for Jurgen Klopp's side as they continue to put pressure on the sides around them - with the gold pot of a Champions League place the target.

However, after temporarily moving up to fourth-place with victory over Villa, the Reds are almost certainly set to finish the day in fifth as Chelsea storm towards all three points against fellow London side Crystal Palace.
