Fabinho reveals Jurgen Klopp's favourite player at Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has revealed Virgil van Dijk is Jurgen Klopp’s favourite player at the club.

Since he joined the Reds, Virgil Van Dijk has played a significant role in the club's recent success.

Liverpool's No.4 is a key member of the squad that has won the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Premier League in recent years.

With this in mind, his absence, while he recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament rupture, was felt throughout last season.

Klopp will be desperate to get the Dutchman back playing as quickly as possible, but is also understandably wary of using him too soon, hoping not to aggravate his injury.

During a Q&A session on his Instagram page, the Brazilian was asked, "Who's the gaffer's favourite?" to which he simply replied 'VVD' - accompanied by some not-so-subtle eye emojis.

Klopp will be desperate to get the Dutchman back playing as quickly as possible, but is also understandably wary of using him too soon, hoping not to aggravate his injury.

In addition to Fabinho's claims about Van Dijk being Klopp's favourite, he was also heaped praise on teammate Kostas Tsimikas, stating that he is a ‘monster’ and ‘so good’.

Although the left-back may have only played twice in the Premier League for Liverpool last season - and that for just five minutes - it seems as though he has already impressed the Brazilian on the training pitch.

After seemingly getting a message from Tsimikas that said “You are my idol”, Fabinho responded to that comment by saying “This guy is a monster, so strong, so good. This guy is my idol. @Tsimikas21.”

Tsimikas has endured a tough start to life on Merseyside and with Andy Robertson ahead of him in the pecking order, it’s going to be difficult to break into Liverpool's starting XI.

However, it does appear that Klopp has faith in the left-back and with a season under his belt, Tsimikas could get his chance when the Reds boss inevitably rotates his squad this campaign.
