Fabianski and Cresswell start, Haller up front - West Ham predicted team to face Man City

The pre-season is done, the time for talking is over and West Ham will finally get their Premier League campaign underway on Saturday lunchtime with the toughest prospect of them all.

Two-time reigning and defending champions Manchester City are the visitors to Stratford this weekend as they get the defence of their title underway and for the Hammers, a push for European football begins.

Manuel Pellegrini has made six signings this summer and two of them are all set for home debuts on Saturday with club record signing Sebastien Haller and £25m midfielder Pablo Fornals likely to be included.

Two other signings in Goncalo Cardoso and Albian Ajeti only trained with the new teammates for the first time on Thursday morning and are unlikely to feature this weekend.

The big news ahead of the game is that goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has been passed fit after struggling for the past fortnight with a groin problem. He trained on Thursday at Rush Green and is good to go for this weekend.

Someone who won't be featuring is skipper Mark Noble, who is still struggling with a leg injury that caused him to miss the second half of pre-season.

Here is our predicted team for the game on Saturday:

There is only really one big selection decision for Pellegrini this weekend as Fabianski coming back into the fold is a no-braininer.

That decision comes at left back where the manager has to choose between Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku and we think the boss will plump for the Englishman over the DR Congo defender.

That is purely based on pre-season decisions where despite Masuaku being available for the last three matches, he has only featured off the bench after joining up with the squad late.

Also based on pre-season, the rest of the lineup picks itself with the dynamic midfield four of Pablo Fornals, Jack Wilshere, Manuel Lanzini and Felipe Anderson in behind the main striker, Sebastien Haller.
