Fabian Moreau’s potential absence at CB for Redskins could pay huge dividends for Eagles’ passing game

The Philadelphia Eagles enter the season opener against the Redskins as heavy betting favorites and the advantage could become even great if Washington cornerback Fabian Moreau can’t go. Moreau has been dealing with an ankle injury and the reports have him missing anywhere from a few weeks to no time at all.

Ben Standig of The Athletic is reporting that Moreau was a non-participant in the Redskins first practice of the regular season.

Last week, Redskins coach Jay Gruden told the media that Moreau would not need ankle surgery, and could be ready for Week 1 against the Eagles.

Moreau rotates in and out with cornerbacks Quinton Dunbar and Josh Norman during games, and if he can’t go at the slot-cornerback spot, then Jimmy Moreland could get the nod. With the Eagles having the ability to utilize Nelson Agholor, DeSean Jackson and JJ Arcega-Whiteside from the slot, the Redskins could be in for a long afternoon on Sunday.
