Fabian Delph sends classy message to Man City after Everton transfer confirmed

Fabian Delph has completed his move to Everton, ending a successful four year spell at Manchester City.

Delph, 29, joins Everton on a three year contract for an undisclosed deal, and will join his new teammates on their pre-season training camp in Switzerland.

The midfielder-turned-left-back made 89 appearances for City since his move from Aston Villa in 2015, and played a crucial part in the 2017/18 Premier League title win when he performed admirably in an unfamiliar defensive role when Benjamin Mendy was injured.

However, Oleks Zinchenko overtook Delph to act as Mendy's understudy, leaving him with limited first team opportunities. The re-signing of Angelino this summer put him further down the pecking order.

Delph was a popular member of the squad, and fans particularly liked his passion in the dressing room that was seen during last year's All or Nothing documentary.

And the England international had a classy message for City after ending his spell at the Etihad.

On joining Everton, Delph told ManCity.com : “I am extremely proud to have played for Manchester City and of what I have achieved here,” Delph said.

“I joined the Club with the aim of winning trophies and I am delighted I have been able to do that whilst playing alongside a fantastic group of players.

“I would like to thank all my team-mates, the staff and the fans for their support and I wish the Club all the best for the future.”

He told Everton's website : “Every time I have played against Everton, whether it was home or away, straight away the first thing that comes to mind when you see the fans is passion.

"The Everton fans seem to know football, seem to understand it, it seems to be in their blood and they really back the team. You are always going to hear Evertonians and I’m excited to play at home and hear them when I am playing.

"I’m really happy to be here, I’m going to give absolutely everything - nothing less than 100 per cent. Hopefully we can push together, fans and players, to do something special."
