Fabian Delph injury latest as Everton midfielder leaves England squad

Fabian Delph has left the England squad to continue his injury rehab at Everton

Delph, nursing a hamstring problem, failed a late fitness test ahead of the Blues’ game with Southampton on Saturday but still joined up with the Three Lions at the start of this week.

But after being assessed by England’s medical team, who have ruled he would be unlikely to feature against Montenegro or Kosovo, the decision has been made that the midfielder will return to Finch Farm.

Delph picked up the hamstring issue towards the end of the game with Spurs earlier this month.

The 29-year-old missed training last Tuesday but took part in a session the following day.

However, he suffered a set-back in training on Thursday that, ultimately, forced him out of the game with Saints.

And after meeting up with Gareth Southgate’s squad this week the call has been made this evening for Delph to return to Everton.
