FA to 'review' Everton game after double yellow card fiasco

The Football Association are remaining tight lipped on any action being taken after an Everton Women's game saw an opposition player shown two yellow cards - but not sent off.

Willie Kirk's side drew 2-2 with Brighton with on Sunday to remain unbeaten but lose their 100% start to the Women's Super League season.

Soon after Brighton levelled the game, with 12 minutes to go, Kayleigh Green was shown a second yellow by referee Lucy Oliver - wife of derby ref Michael - but was not sent off.

Everton boss Kirk described the situation as "baffling".

Now the FA are looking back at the weekend's game, along with the other WSL fixtures as standard, but are not saying anymore on the matter thus far and won't until the 'evaluation' is over.

The governing body have put no time-frame on this process.

"We have to talk about it, that's a major incident," Kirk told BBC Sport afterwards.

"For a player to be booked twice and still be on the pitch is baffling. I think it's only happened once in my lifetime. It shouldn't happen."
