The Football Association are switching the Community Shield away from Wembley next year in a decision which could impact Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and their rivals.
Hosting the UEFA 2021 Women's European Championship has led to the traditional curtain-raiser going on the road and potentially even leaving London.
Wembley has been the home of the Community Shield since the new version of the stadium was constructed but the game has taken place elsewhere in recent history.
Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium hosted six events while work was being carried out. Villa Park also hosted the tie in 2012.
It has been reported by the Telegraph that the change of venue could lead to the FA gauging interest for potentially taking the match abroad.
The La Liga, for instance, took the Super Cup to Saudi Arabia for a two-legged final last month.
Premier League clubs have seen the appeal of going on pre-season tours of America and Asia in recent years but it has been suggested that the FA will not take the Community Shield away from England next year, though the possibility remains moving forward.
Whilst there are no London sides likely to finish first or second this season they could qualify for the Community Shield thanks to an FA Cup win.
Arsenal face Portsmouth on the road in the fifth round of the FA Cup, Chelsea host Liverpool and Tottenham meet Norwich City out of the top sides in London.
