FA to investigate as former Bristol City loanee involved in racism row after Leeds United's defeat to Charlton Athletic

The FA are to investigate allegations of racial abuse during Charlton Athletic's win over Leeds United at the weekend.

Referee John Brooks was told of the incident, which is said to involved Leeds goalkeeper Kiko Casilla and Charlton attacker Jonathan Leko.

Leko is on loan at Charlton from West Brom and is enjoying regular Championship football after a disappointing loan spell at Bristol City two seasons ago.

The youngster, who was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and moved to England when he was eight, made 11 goalless appearances for the Robins in 2017/18, being recalled by his parent club in January 2018.

After spending last year at the Baggies, he moved to Charlton this season and has so far netted one goal in eight matches.

Leeds expert Phil Hay has said that the Elland Road club have received no complaint or notification of any complaint, and that there has been no comment from Charlton on the allegation.

However, Brooks included the incident in his referee's report, which was received by the FA yesterday.

The last player to be found guilty of using racist language was Fernando Forestieri, with the Sheffield Wednesday forward being banned for six games after being found to have used racist language towards Mansfield Town's Krystian Pearce in a friendly.
