The FA are planning to pay tribute to World Cup winners Jack Charlton, Martin Peters, Norman Hunter and Peter Bonetti when England play their next home game.
The quartet, who were part of the 1966 World Cup winning-squad, have passed away since England last played a competitive fixture in November of last year.
As a result, the FA have not had a chance to fully pay tribute to them but are planning to do so when England next play at Wembley Stadium. Gareth Southgate’s side are due to face
Belgium at home in October but the international calendar is still up in the air because of the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Tributes have flooded in for Charlton since his death on Friday, while Premier League clubs held a minute’s silence before games at the weekend. Further tributes are expected to take place this weekend, too, ahead of the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley.
The former Leeds defender had been diagnosed with lymphoma in the last year and also had dementia.
