Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has been charged by the FA after he was sent off following his side’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday.
The former Chelsea boss was left raging after Dominic Calvert-Lewin saw a late goal ruled out by VAR, after Gylfi Sigurdsson was adjudged to have been in an offside position.
Ancelotti headed straight for match referee Chris Kavanagh upon the full-time whistle going at Goodison Park, and after making his feelings known, was shown a straight red card.
Now following the incident the Football Association have confirmed that they have formally charged the Italian with misconduct.
"Carlo Ancelotti has been charged with misconduct for a breach of FA Rule E3,” a statement from the FA read.
"It is alleged that the Everton FC manager’s language and/or behaviour on the field of play at the end of the Premier League fixture against Manchester United FC on Sunday 1 March 2020 amounts to improper conduct."
The three-time Champions League winner has until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge, with him facing a possible touchline ban or a fine if he accepts.
Ancelotti’s side resume Premier League action against Chelsea this weekend, looking to close the gap on the top four.
The former AC Milan boss will return to Stamford Bridge where he won the league and cup double during his first season in west London before being sacked at the end of the 2011 season.
Frank Lampard’s side will come into the game on the back of a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, and are eights points clear of the Toffees in the Premier League table.
