FA offer solution to conclude Premier League 19/20 season

The Premier League could be offered the use of Wembley and St George's Park in a bid to help finish their 2019/20 season.

The expectation among those in power is that all remaining games in England’s top-flight will have to be concluded behind closed doors due to the coronavirus outbreak.

And now according to a report in The Times, the national stadium could host as many as four matches per day in order to keep travelling at a minimum for players, match officials and media.

While St George's Park, England’s National Football Centre, will also be made available, with clubs able to use it as a quarantined training base in order to keep players and staff together.

However, the plan will only be implemented if the government lifts its current social distancing measures and Covid-19 testing is also likely to be key to any games being allowed to be played.

"When we know about the length of lockdown and exit mechanisms we can see which options are viable,”  a source close to the plans told the publication.

The Premier League has been postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Liverpool were 25 points clear of second-placed Man City and just two wins away from securing the title when football was brought to a standstill on March 13.

But the Premier League is believed to be doing all it can to try and finish the current campaign, with top four and relegation still also to be confirmed.
