The FA are investigating the crowd trouble between rival fans at the end of Arsenal’s clash with Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.
Both sets of fans appeared to throw plastic drinks bottles and other items at each other for several minutes.
Stewards struggled to regain control in the Barnfield Construction Stand and fans were repeatedly told over the public address to leave the stadium.
The scenes marred the Gunners’ 1-0 win over the Clarets, as they recorded consecutive victories in the Premier League for the first time this season.
Mikel Arteta's side were the better team in the first half, creating many clear-cut opportunities before Bukayo Saka was brought down on the edge of the box just before the half-hour mark.
Martin Odegaard stepped up and scored from the resulting free-kick, curling the ball into the top corner with a fantastic effort that left Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope with no chance.
Arsenal could’ve made it a lot more comfortable for themselves, but the likes of Nicolas Pepe and Emile Smith Rowe failed to convert close-range efforts early on.
Burnley were awarded a penalty when Ben White’s back pass to Aaron Ramsdale was intercepted by Matej Vydra, who appeared to be tripped by the Gunners’ keeper – at least according to on field referee, Anthony Taylor.
But the decision was overturned by VAR after it became clear that Ramsdale’s tackle was fair and well-timed.
The Gunners held on to secure all three points, a win that has seen them move up to 13th after what has been a difficult start to the new campaign.
Arteta will be hoping his side can make it three wins out of three against Tottenham next Sunday.
Spurs go into the game having lost to Crystal Palace and Chelsea in their last two matches, but Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will be looking to bounce back with a big win in what promises to be a cagey north London derby.
