FA end investigation into Liverpool and Man City hacking allegations

The FA have ended an investigation into hacking allegations made against Liverpool.

Liverpool's scouting staff had been accused of accessing data using Man City's Scout7 system on a number of occasions, leading to a reported complaint made by the Manchester club in July 2013.

However, Liverpool reportedly paid City £1million when a confidential agreement between the two clubs was reached, but the payment was said to be made without the club or any individuals accepting any wrongdoing.

The FA approached Man City for information back in October after a report in The Times, where it was said City used experts to discover if their database had been spied on.

Liverpool were later approached for evidence, but no investigation will now be pursued by the governing body.

An FA spokesperson said: "The FA has carefully considered the evidence it received in this matter, including information provided by both clubs involved, and has decided not to progress the investigation. This is due to a number of factors including the age of the alleged concerns and the settlement agreed by the two clubs involved.

"As per standard protocol, should The FA receive further information or evidence, the decision not to progress the investigation may be reviewed."
