Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford will not face any retrospective action for his challenge on Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk, the FA have confirmed.
The Reds centre-back was substituted early on in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Goodison Park after a late and reckless challenge from the Blues shot-stopper.
It was later confirmed that the Dutch international would need surgery on his injury and he would be on the sidelines for an extended period of time.
Meanwhile the incident has been subject to a lot of scrutiny throughout the weekend, with many believing that Pickford could face retrospective action for the tackle.
Due to Van Dijk being offside, the on-field official and VAR didn't award Liverpool a penalty following the challenge and didn't hand the Everton man a red card.
However, the FA have now confirmed that they will only hand out retrospective punishments for incidents not seen by any officials, on the pitch or at Stockley Park.
The tackle on Saturday was seen by the VAR and, at the time, it was determined that no additional punishment was required.
Liverpool have not put a time-frame on the Van Dijk's recovery, but are reluctant to rule the defender out for the remainder of the campaign at this stage.
