FA Cup TV right changes which will impact Everton and Liverpool fans

The FA Cup will be broadcast exclusively on free-to-air television from the 2021/22 season.

ITV have agreed a four-year deal with the FA to broadcast the competition alongside the BBC, replacing BT Sport as rights-holders in a deal that effects fans of both of Everton and Liverpool.

The BBC announced their own deal with the FA to show the FA Cup until 2025 earlier this year, having the rights to broadcast up to 18 live matches a season, in addition to the highlights and online highlights.

Meanwhile, ITV's package will see them show more than 20 matches a season and also includes live coverage of the Community Shield as the senior partner.

With the new deal taking place from the start of the 2021-22 campaign, it will guarantee a larger television audience for the oldest national football competition in the world.

Under the terms of the new deal, which is set to be officially signed in the next few weeks, the two broadcasters will share coverage of the final, as they did from 1955 until 1988.

Everton last competed in the FA Cup final back in 2009 and have won the competition on five separate occasions, while Liverpool have lifted the famous trophy seven times in their history, and last featured in the final back in 2012.
