FA Cup third round details: What channel is the draw, what ball number are Newcastle United

Newcastle’s bid for a first FA Cup trophy in over half a century gets underway in January when the FA Cup third round gets underway.

The Magpies have failed to win a major honour since the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969, with their last domestic honour stretching back even further to the 1955 FA Cup.

Geordie icon Jackie Milburn was the hero that day, but Toon fans will be hoping to taste similar success in the coming years following the club’s £300million Saudi-backed takeover.

EFL and non-league clubs - including one just across the River Tyne - will be going head-to-head this weekend in the second round, with victory giving smaller sides hope of landing a dream fixture against one of the big boys when the third round commences in the New Year.

ChronicleLive provides details of the draw below…

When will the draw take place?

The draw for the third round will take place on Monday, December 6 following coverage for a local non-league derby between Boreham Wood and St Albans City.

The game is on ITV4, with the programme starting at 6:45pm.

Newcastle will find out their opponents after the full-time whistle.

When will the third round take place?

The third round is set to take place between Friday, January 7 and Monday, January 10, with 32 games in total spread across the four days.

Who will be in the FA Cup third round?

Buxton, who play in the Northern Premier League, are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition. They take on Morecambe for a place in the third round.

Gateshead host Charlton in a huge game at the International Stadium, with the Heed looking to reach the third round for just the second time in sixty-five years.
