The winners of Manchester City and Watford in this year’s FA Cup final to pocket near £7million.

After progressing through to the final both sides have already secured slightly over £3million from this year’s tournament.

The FA Cup is a huge incentive for lower league teams, even lower ranked Premier League teams can earn a solid amount of money for the club with progressing through the rounds.

But for Liverpool , they received no prize money after entering the tournament in the third round and going out in that fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Newport County were the lowest ranked team in the competition at one point when they reached the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Premier League sides Brighton and Wolves reached the semi-finals of the tournament which lead to them winning around £2.3million in prize money.

An exciting draw came at the Emirates in the Fourth Round where Arsenal were drawn against Manchester United . A deserved 3-1 victory sent United through to the next round of the cup. Arsenal only entered in the third round, so their prize money was stuck at £135,500.

Manchester United got as far as the quarter-finals as they ended their run in defeat to Wolves at Molineux in a 2-1 loss. United’s prize money valued at £675,500.
