Holders Manchester City had no such problems in brushing aside League Two outfit Port Vale 4-1, with 17-year-old defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis among those on the scoresheet.
Elsewhere, Bournemouth put four past Luton Town, Leicester breezed past Wigan 2-0 at the King Power Stadium and teenager Adam Idah scored a hat-trick as Norwich overcame Preston 4-2.
And League Two side Tranmere Rovers fought from three goals down against Watford to earn a replay at Prenton Park.

This weekend’s FA Cup matches will be delayed by 60 seconds as part of an initiative promoting mental well-being amongst supporters.
The FA’s Heads Up campaign sees all games start later than usual, with fans encouraged to ‘take a minute’ to reflect on the issue.
In a statement, the FA said: “It is hoped it will raise awareness of the importance of looking after our mental health, with 60 seconds representing just the first step in the journey to improved well-being.
“Fans will be encouraged to consider the positive impact it can have.”
