FA Cup final kick-off time and referee confirmed ahead of Arsenal vs Chelsea showdown

The Football Association have confirmed that the FA Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea will take place on Saturday, August 1 at 5.30pm.

The Gunners booked their place in the final with a brilliant 2-0 win over holders Manchester City on Saturday evening, with captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the hero with a brace.

Their London rivals went one better in terms of goals scored as they put three past Manchester United this evening.

Olivier Giroud broke the deadlock shortly before half-time before Mason Mount benefited from a David de Gea error to double the Blues' lead and an own-goal from Harry Maguire put the tie out of United's reach.

Arteta hopes FA Cup run persuades Aubameyang to stay

Bruno Fernandes did reduce the deficit with a penalty, but there was to be no dramatic comeback in the final 10 minutes plus injury time.

As a result, it will be an all-London affair at the national stadium next month as Arsenal and Chelsea meet in a repeat of the 2002 and 2017 finals.

It was the Gunners who came out on top in both of those meetings, but the Blues did win last season's Europa League final 4-1.

And just like the 2017 final between the two sides, Anthony Taylor will be the man in the middle with Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn as his assistants.

The fourth official will be Chris Kavanagh and reserve assistant referee will be Lee Betts.

Stuart Attwell will be the video assistant referee (VAR), and will be joined by Steve Child at Stockley Park.
