FA Cup fifth round TV games announced with Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool selected

The televised FA Cup fifth round fixtures have been announced with four games to be screened across four nights.

Portsmouth will entertain Arsenal on Monday March 2 on BT Sport, while Liverpool's trip to Chelsea will be shown by the BBC 24 hours later.

Holders Manchester City will travel to Hillsborough to take on Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday March 4, live on the BBC, before BT Sport show the Wayne Rooney derby between Derby and Manchester United at Pride Park on the Thursday night.

Half of the eight ties will be broadcast, meaning four fixtures will not be shown live on television.

They include Norwich's trip to Tottenham, Leicester vs Birmingham, Championship leaders West Brom against Newcastle and Reading's clash with Premier League Sheffield United.

Arsenal are not in action on the weekend prior to their game at Portsmouth, due to Manchester City's involvement in the Carabao Cup final against Aston Villa.

City themselves have the fixture against Sheffield Wednesday sandwiched between the League Cup final and a trip to Manchester United the following weekend in the Premier League.

Extra importance has been placed on the cups this season given City's 22-point deficit to runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola's men won the domestic treble last term and have the chance to retain both cups in the current campaign.

The FA Cup represents the only realistic chance of domestic silverware for each of the other big six clubs, with the exception of champions-elect Liverpool.

FA Cup fifth round TV selections (all 7.45pm kick-off)

  • Monday March 2: Portsmouth vs Arsenal (BT Sport)
  • Tuesday March 3: Chelsea vs Liverpool (BBC)
  • Wednesday March 4: Sheffield Wednesday vs Manchester City (BBC)
  • Thursday March 5: Derby vs Manchester United (BT Sport)
