The draw for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup has taken place, with Manchester City at home to Liverpool in a blockbuster all-Premier League tie.
Quadruple contenders Arsenal have been given a favourable draw away to Southampton, while giant-killers Port Vale - the lowest-ranked side left - have earned an away day to Stamford Bridge after dispatching Sunderland this weekend.
The final last-eight encounter will see West Ham, who beat Brentford 5-3 on penalties on Monday night after the drew took place, at home to fellow Premier League side Leeds United.
The quarter-final ties will be played over the weekend of 4 April.
Over the weekend Gunners escaped a scare against Mansfield to keep their quadruple hopes alive, while City eased past Newcastle to do the same and Liverpool avenged their loss to Wolves last week.
League One side Port Vale shocked Sunderland, Liam Rosenior’s side escaped their own scare against Wrexham and Saints saw off top-flight Fulham.

What the FA Cup reveals about English clubs in Europe
23:30 , Flo CliffordRyan Reynolds and Snoop Dogg might these days be far more visible near the top of European football than Michel Platini – a sentence that would have been absurd in 2008 – but some of the most senior figures at that level still quote the former Uefa president when a particular concern about the Champions League is put to them: “The English are like lions in the autumn but like lambs in the spring.”
First uttered during the “big four” era, that Platini comment was repeatedly raised at some of the engagements around the recent Financial Times Business of Football Summit. It was, of course, in reference to the fact that the Champions League this week has an unprecedented six Premier League clubs in the last 16 – but only two have actually won it in this decade.

Dango Ouattara fluffs his lines as West Ham edge past Brentford on penalties
22:53 , Flo CliffordBrentford forward Dango Ouattara fluffed a Panenka-style penalty as West Ham reached the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time in a decade with a 5-3 shoot-out win.
The Burkina Faso international’s outlandish attempt was easily caught by Hammers goalkeeper Alphonse Areola before Konstantinos Mavropanos converted the decisive spot-kick.
Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen and Brentford top scorer Igor Thiago each scored twice during normal time as an entertaining fifth-round tie ended in a 2-2 draw.
Three-time FA Cup winners West Ham will host Leeds in the last eight, having last progressed to that stage of the competition during the 2015-16 season – their final one at Upton Park.

West Ham beat Brentford
22:26 , Flo CliffordWest Ham beat Brentford 5-3 on penalties after drawing 2-2 in normal time!
Every one of West Ham’s penalties was fantastic. Brentford’s Dango Ouattara went for a truly horrific Panenka effort and West Ham kept their cool to slot home all five.

Tonda Eckert wants Southampton players to ‘stay on the gas’ after FA Cup upset
21:30 , Flo CliffordSouthampton head coach Tonda Eckert challenged his players to “stay on the gas” and strive to mark the 50th anniversary of their only FA Cup triumph by returning to Wembley.
A 1-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage ensured there will be a Championship name in Monday’s quarter-final draw after Ross Stewart’s stoppage-time penalty upset the Premier League side.
Saints are playing their cup fixtures this season in shirts that commemorate the victory over Manchester United in May 1976 that brought the club the only major honour in their history.

Kepa Arrizabalaga impressed by ‘special’ Arsenal duo Max Dowman and Marli Salmon
20:54 , Flo CliffordKepa Arrizabalaga applauded “special kids” Max Dowman and Marli Salmon after the 16-year-old pair caught the eye in Arsenal’s FA Cup victory at Mansfield.
Mikel Arteta started the highly-rated academy products as the Premier League leaders made nine changes for Saturday lunchtime’s fifth-round trip to a sold-out One Call Stadium.
Dowman impressed on a challenging afternoon in Mansfield where, aged 16 years and 66 days, he became Arsenal’s youngest ever player in the FA Cup on his first appearance since November following an ankle issue.

Leeds can dream about ‘writing another piece of history’ with FA Cup run – Farke
20:34 , Flo CliffordLeeds boss Daniel Farke said his players were “highly motivated” to extend their FA Cup “dream” after a 3-0 win against Norwich saw them reach the quarter-finals for the first time since 2003.
First-half goals from Sean Longstaff and Gabriel Gudmundsson put Leeds in control at Elland Road against Farke’s former club before Joel Piroe’s late effort sealed a place in the hat for Monday night’s last-eight draw.
Farke said: “We haven’t had too many home games in the FA Cup in the last couple of decades and for that, we take it as motivation to be able, perhaps, to write another piece of amazing history for this club.”

Jon Brady admits Port Vale’s FA Cup run ‘pain in the bum’ amid relegation scrap
20:14 , Flo CliffordPort Vale boss Jon Brady admitted a long FA Cup run was a “pain in the bum” amid his side’s League One relegation scrap but that did nothing to dampen huge celebrations after they stunned Premier League Sunderland 1-0 to reach the quarter-finals for the first time since 1954.
Ben Waine’s 28th-minute header was their only attempt on target but still enough to secure a famous win at Vale Park as they beat top-flight opposition for the first time since a fourth-round win over Everton 30 years ago.

Poor draw for underdogs
19:45 , Flo CliffordThe only two non-Premier League sides have been dealt a bad hand in this draw.
Southampton, eighth in the Championship, have to host Arsenal - and will no doubt hope to draw inspiration from League One Mansfield, who gave the Gunners a fright with a spirited performance on Saturday.
And Port Vale, who are bottom of League One, will head to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea - who did themselves have a scare against Wrexham, so there’s certainly hope for the minnows.

On course for an Arsenal-Man City final?
19:27 , Flo CliffordArsenal have been drawn away to Southampton, while Manchester City will host Liverpool at the Etihad.
And with Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola’s sides set to face off in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley in just a couple of weeks, they could be in line to face each other once more, in the FA Cup final.
Both sides are still fighting on all four fronts and hopes of a quadruple are still alive, particularly for Arsenal, who are in the driving seat in both the Premier and Champions League at the moment.

Late penalty earns Southampton a shock FA Cup victory at Fulham
18:50 , Flo CliffordAnd another, slightly less surprising upset, but an upset nonetheless:
Southampton scored a stoppage-time penalty to defeat Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage to cause an FA Cup fifth-round upset.
An intriguing tie looked bound for extra-time until the 90th minute when Saints’ Finn Azaz smartly kept himself onside and was tripped by the trailing boot of Joachim Andersen inside the box.
From the spot, Ross Stewart hammered the ball hard and low into the corner beyond the fingertips of goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte to ensure there will be a Championship team in Monday’s quarter-final draw.

League One’s Port Vale stun Sunderland to make history and reach FA Cup quarter-finals
18:40 , Flo CliffordAnd the feelgood story of this FA Cup round:
League One strugglers Port Vale reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time in 72 years after Ben Waine’s headed goal stunned Premier League side Sunderland 1-0.
Five days after getting the goal that knocked out Bristol City, Waine – a New Zealand international whose mum’s family hails from the North East – was at it again as his 28th-minute header gave Vale their first win over top-flight opposition since a fourth-round win over Everton 30 years ago.

Wrexham denied Hollywood ending but cause Chelsea huge FA Cup scare
18:30 , Chris WilsonAnd here’s the report from the dramatic Wrexham-Chelsea game:
Chelsea twice came from behind to avoid an FA Cup shock with a 4-2 extra-time victory at 10-man Wrexham.
With Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac in attendance, the ambitious Welsh outfit were dreaming of a famous victory when they took the lead at a raucous Stok Cae Ras through Sam Smith.
A fortuitous own goal allowed the sluggish Londoners to equalise but the Red Dragons’ hopes were rekindled with an improvised finish from Callum Doyle 12 minutes from time.

Man City continue Newcastle dominance as second string deliver statement FA Cup win
18:20 , Chris WilsonAnd here’s City’s win over Newcastle...
Omar Marmoush scored twice as Manchester City’s second string cruised past Newcastle and into the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 3-1 win.
The Magpies led through Harvey Barnes’ cultured 18th-minute finish in front of watching England boss Thomas Tuchel, but Savinho levelled before the break and Marmoush struck twice after it to secure City a 19th win in 21 attempts in the competition over the last four years.
That was all the more impressive as boss Pep Guardiola made 10 changes to the side which drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League in midweek – star striker Erling Haaland did not even make the matchday squad – with one eye on Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid in the Spanish capital.

Arsenal forced to call on big guns to see off spirited minnows Mansfield in FA Cup tie for the ages
18:10 , Chris WilsonHere are some of the reports from the weekend’s fifth-round ties, starting with Mansfield vs Arsenal:
Eberechi Eze’s previous FA Cup goal brought one of the famous old competition’s most treasured upsets in recent years. His next one may have prevented one of the greatest ever.
Eze remains on course to win the FA Cup in consecutive years with different clubs, just as Arsenal carry their quest for the quadruple still deeper into the season.
And yet it is not fanciful to imagine it could have been Mansfield Town in the quarter-finals, with another miracle shaped by a managerial Clough in the East Midlands. “You have that nagging feeling we could have nicked it,” said Nigel Clough.

FA Cup draw live
17:33 , Chris WilsonThe draw for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup takes place tonight.
Premier League leaders Arsenal and their title rivals Manchester City are still involved in all four competitions this season, with Mikel Arteta’s side surviving a scare against Mansfield to win 2-1 on Saturday and keep those quadruple hopes alive.
They face City in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley in a couple of weeks, with Pep Guardiola’s side hoping to match their rivals’ progress in the FA Cup as well.
City, meanwhile, defeated Newcastle United 3-1 at St. James’ Park to continue their exceptional run against Eddie Howe’s team and maintain their own quest to secure a quadruple.
Elsewhere, Liverpool are through after gaining revenge on Wolves after their 2-1 defeat at Molineux in the Premier League, while Championship side Wrexham were pipped in a tight contest against Chelsea. The biggest shock of the round however came from Port Vale who, despite sitting at the bottom of League One, beat Sunderland 1-0 at Vale Park on Sunday.
