The Football Association have charged Tottenham's goalkeeper coach Nuno Santos with improper conduct and handed down a one-match touchline ban.
Santos was one of a number of Spurs players and staff to protest the decision to award Newcastle a last minute penalty after the 1-1 draw on Sunday and he was given a red card.
Spurs had dominated the game and were leading 1-0 going into stoppage time thanks to Lucas Moura's first half goal, when a penalty was awarded after a VAR check for a potential handball by Eric Dier.
The video assistant referee deemed that Andy Carroll's header hit Dier on the arm and under the new handball rules, a spot kick was awarded to the Magpies after referee Peter Bankes took a look at the incident on the pitchside monitor.
Callum Wilson duly converted the penalty to rescue a point for Newcastle in the 94th minute, which led to Santos entering the field at full time to vehemently protest.
In a statement, the FA said: "Tottenham Hotspur FC’s goalkeeper coach, Nuno Santos, has been suspended from the touchline for one match and fined £8,000 after admitting a charge for a breach of FA Rule E3 and accepting a standard penalty.
"At full time of the Premier League fixture against Newcastle United FC on Sunday [27/09/20] he used abusive and/or insulting language towards a match official on the field of play and/or his behaviour amounted to improper conduct."
After the game, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho admitted Santos was "naive" to react at the final whistle.
"The only thing that I know is that I'm more experienced than him and I left down the tunnel when the referee blew the whistle for the last time," Mourinho said.
"I know that in some matches at some clubs, even after the last whistle, it's possible for something important to happen, but for us I knew that after the last whistle it was over for us and I left for the dressing room. So Nuno was a little bit more naive than me and he stayed there."
