The 2025 Formula 1 world drivers’ championship will be decided at this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which is also the last of the current ground-effect era.
Lando Norris leads the championship and is 12 points above Red Bull’s Max Verstappen with McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri hanging on in third and 16 off top.
So Norris simply needs a podium finish to clinch his maiden title but as is the case at any championship decider, anything can happen - just think of 2010 when outsider Sebastian Vettel snatched it from Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber.
Norris got the upper hand on Friday by topping both practice sessions from Verstappen, with Piastri sitting out FP1 due to rookie driver duties and then was only 11th in FP2.
It therefore promises to be an enthralling contest, starting with qualifying which has proven to be of huge importance this year given 15 of 23 grands prix have been won from pole.
