EA, in collaboration with Formula 1, has unveiled the F1 25 Driver Ratings ahead of the game’s launch on May 30. The ratings reveal was filmed during the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix weekend, where the drivers caught up with EA Sports’ Chief Rating Officer and F1 TV presenter Ariana Bravo to discuss and debate their numbers.
The ratings are based on a mix of historical data, recent performances, and insights from a panel of experts. They play a key role in shaping the in-game experience, affecting how each AI-controlled driver performs on the track. This year, the ratings carry even more weight in the updated My Team mode, where players will be managing both drivers on their custom team.
“Every year our Driver Ratings spark vibrant discussions both among fans and within the paddock, and this year won’t be any different,” said Lee Mather, Senior Creative Director at Codemasters. “This season is shaping up to be incredibly exciting, with several drivers emerging as title contenders. Dynamic ratings updates throughout the season will reflect the thrilling on-track developments, ensuring the game mirrors the intensity of the Championship battle.”
The F1 25 Driver Ratings break down into four main categories, all of which come together to form each driver’s overall score.
- Experience (EXP): The number of race starts a driver has over the course of their career
- Racecraft (RAC): The ability to work through the pack and finish in a higher position
- Awareness (AWA): The cleaner the race, the higher the rating
- Pace (PAC): A mix of qualifying and lap times during race weekends, and how they stack up against their teammate in both categories
- Overall Rating (RTG): The combination of the previous four ratings, with Pace having the biggest impact
