'F****** joke' - Manchester United legends Paul Scholes and Gary Neville react to Wolves defeat

Manchester United legends Paul Scholes and Gary Neville have expressed their frustration with Manchester United after they were defeated by Wolves on Monday.

United's turgid season continued as Ralf Rangnick fell to his first defeat as interim boss at Old Trafford in a game that they deserved nothing more from.

In fact, only losing 1-0 flattered United as the visitors cut through them at will, had 19 shots and should have scored much earlier than they eventually did.

It was Joao Moutinho who popped up with the winner on the 82nd minute after the returning Phil Jones was unlucky to see his clearing header land at the midfielder's feet before he took a touch and sliced it into the bottom corner.

Despite his mistake on an otherwise excellent return to action after nearly two years out, none of the blame can be laid at Jones' feet as nearly every other player failed to reach any sort of quality.

There was no press, no urgency, no desire and hardly any passes being strung together, let alone creativity, from United's wealth of attacking talent.

Former midfielder Scholes certainly wasn't happy with the performance and in the moments following the goal he took to his Instagram story to write: "F****** joke," accompanied with a series of poop and house emojis.

Neville was a bit more tactful as he expressed his displeasure with the team as he Tweeted: "It's not good. It really isn't!"

Before then adding on Instagram: "Can't believe how bad this season has been! Performances woeful!" with a shrugging emoji.

The defeat means United remain sat in seventh place and four points behind Arsenal in the final Champions League spot, though they still have a game in hand.
