American Actor Ezra Miller has remained largely out of the public eye since they starred as the lead in 2023's 'The Flash' following a series of arrests and allegations.

The 32-year-old reappeared at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival last month and mentioned a potential return to Hollywood 'on tentative grounds' working on a film with director and friend of Miller's, Lynne Ramsay.

Controversies surrounding Miller date back to 2020 and include assault, burglary, and alleged grooming of an 18-year-old.

Miller hasn't been cast in any roles in the last two years and their role in the superhero series 'Invincible' was recast following accusations made against them.

Ezra Miller's Crimes and Allegations

Miller's string of controversies began in April 2020 when a video of them appearing to choke a woman surfaced online.

'I think it's just fun and games — but then it wasn't,' the woman told Variety two years after the incident occured. What she thought was a joke at fighting turned into Miller grabbing her by the throat and throwing her to the ground. To this day, no charges have been pressed against them.

The year 2022 was a particularly bad year for the 'Fantastic Beasts' actor.

The controversies began in January with a since deleted Instagram video where Miller threatened a chapter of Ku Klux Klan members in North Carolina. They told members to kill themselves with their own guns and if they didn't, Miller would do it for them.

In March, Miller was arrested for disorderly conduct and harassment for two incidents that took place at a karaoke bar in Hawaii. They were arrested in Hawaii again in April and charged with second-degree assault after throwing a chair at a 26-year-old woman resulting in her forehead being cut.

Two parents accused Miller of grooming their 18-year-old, Tokata Iron Eyes from the age of 12. They claimed the actor had supplied their child with alcohol, marijuna, and LSD during their friendship. However, Iron Eyes denied the allegations they were being abused and their father withdrew the court filings in August 2024.

In August 2022, Miller was accused of burglary where they allegedly stole several bottles of alcohol from a home in Vermont.

Ezra Addresses Surrounding Controversies

Later that month, Miller addressed their concerning behaviour in a statement to PEOPLE.

'Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,' Miller said.

'I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life,' they added.

Ezra's Return To Hollywood

Miller made a rare appearance at Cannes Film Festival last month to support friend and film maker Lynne Ramsay.

In an interview with Lo Speciale Giornale, they explained that she had asked them to attend the event, and that their return to Hollywood would likely come by starring in a film written by Miller and Ramsay.

'That will likely be the first thing I do, is a film that her and I are writing together.'

'I've been writing a lot cuz you can do that in solitude, which has been friendly to me' the actor added.

Miller also commented on his past controversies, declaring that although they feels remorse, they are also grateful for the lessons they learned from that experience.

'Not that I don't hold a lot of remorse and lamentation for a lot of things that I did and for a lot of things that happened in that time, but I'm really really grateful for the lessons that came with that abyss.'
