Malaga-based writer-producer Ezekiel Montes is collaborating with director Sergio Siruela on their upcoming thriller film titled 'Aullar,' which delves into the complexities of a father-daughter relationship. The movie stars Elena Martínez, known for her roles in the 2021 crime thriller 'A Dead Man Cannot Live' and the 2023 drama 'Devoción,' portraying a resilient woman facing financial struggles while caring for her son. When her estranged father seeks her help to reclaim his home from drug addicts, despite their strained history due to his alcoholism and the loss of her mother, she reluctantly agrees to assist him.
'Aullar' serves as Siruela's directorial debut in feature films, following his work on various prominent series in Mexico for major streaming platforms like Disney+ and ViX. His projects include adaptations of literary classics such as Jules Verne's 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' and the upcoming 'The Lighthouse at the End of the World,' along with 'Se llamaba Pedro Infante,' a biopic about the legendary Mexican actor portrayed by Mario Morán.
Montes, through his production company 73140323PC, is overseeing the production of 'Aullar,' with filming scheduled to commence in September. He aims to premiere the film at the Malaga Film Festival next year, where he previously showcased 'A Dead Man Cannot Live' in 2021. Montes will be discussing the project at the festival's 5 Minutes of Cinema event on Wednesday, offering insights into the creative process and vision behind 'Aullar.'
