Ezekiel Elliott’s dad had an emotional reaction to his son’s historic deal

Ezekiel Elliott will be in uniform for the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, and the 24-year-old superstar will take the field for a Week 1 matchup against the Giants as the highest-paid running back in the NFL.

The Cowboys gave Elliott the deal he wanted, though committing so much money to a running back may prove to be a mistake. Elliott agreed to a six-year extension worth a total of $90 million, with $50 million guaranteed.

Elliott is expected to have a lighter load than usual in Week 1 – but according to his father, Stacy Elliott, Zeke is in the best shape of his life and is ready to carry the Cowboys.

In an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up on Wednesday morning, Stacy Elliott fought back tears as he talked about his son’s colossal deal.

“Me and his mom, we just like…. We just can’t even explain. I just keep thinking to myself that I’m proud to be Ezekiel’s father. I thank Mr. Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys for believing in him and giving him an opportunity to be the highest-paid ever in the history of the NFL. I thank Rocky Arceneaux and their team, Ezekiel’s team, Frank Salzano and all of them.

And above all, I’m just so proud of Ezekiel.”
