If you’ve been following along, then we don’t need to inform you about the NFL Top 100 Players that NFL.com is making its way through. In case you aren’t though, the past few seasons, the players vote on the top players in the league and it gets published from No. 100 down to No. 1. Of course, there are plenty of former Ohio State players on that list and that’s what we focus on here at Buckeyes Wire.
We’ve already seen two former Buckeyes with Cameron Heyward and Joey Bosa in the last half of the top 100, and now things are getting all the way down to the top 20 players. On that note, current (albeit holdout) Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has checked in at No. 18.
Elliott burst into the NFL and made an immediate impact with America’s Team. He’s been one of the top backs in the league since his rookie season, and in fact led the league in rushing last year and in 2016. He made the Pro-Bowl two out of three years.
At Ohio State, Elliott was often overshadowed by other backs in the Big Ten, but announced his emergence to the world during the memorable 2014 season postseason run that resulted in him rushing for over 200 yards in three-straight games.
There’s not many backs better than Elliott at the moment, and frankly, the ranking could be a little higher.
