Ezekiel Elliott definitively shuts down concerns about his weight

Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott found himself facing unwanted scrutiny this weekend when he did the simple act of sharing a photo of himself on Instagram.

Elliott was posing with Von Miller at the Broncos star’s charity event in Texas, and because Elliott probably had better things to do than worry about the optimal photo angles, the resulting photo wasn’t the most flattering.

In that one photo, it sort of looked like (but not really) that Elliott had put on some weight. The internet shamed Elliott nonetheless, and his weight became an actual talking point on shows like ESPN’s First Take.

Well, Elliott shut down those concerns on Tuesday.

The Cowboys running back took to Twitter and shared a video of himself shirtless and on a scale. Two things were proven in that video. The first being that Elliott is definitely not fat. The second — he’s not overweight either.

Elliott’s listed playing weight last season was 225. It’s April, and he stepped on a scale at 230. If Elliott absolutely needed to be at 225 today, he could cut that weight in a matter of hours. Instead, he has three months. There’s no reason for NFL fans to be concerned or shame Elliott whatsoever.

He’s a professional athlete. He knows his body, and he knows how to get ready for the season.

Like everything else on Instagram, one photo never tells the whole story.
