'Extremely dangerous' batch of heroin circulating in Llanelli

An “extremely dangerous” batch of heroin is circulating in a Welsh town, police have warned.

There have been several reports of a harmful batch of the Class A drug, which has been contaminated with other substances, circulating in the Llanelli area.

This has led to police warning drug users across Carmarthenshire to seek urgent medical attention if they feel unwell.

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We are warning drug users in Carmarthenshire to take extra care following reports of a particularly harmful batch of heroin circulating in the Llanelli area. We have reasons to believe that some of the drugs being distributed and used in the Carmarthenshire area at present have been contaminated with other substances and could be extremely dangerous for anyone taking them.

“We would also appeal to drug users to seek medical attention immediately should they become unwell. Please share this information with anyone that you believe could come into contact with these drugs.”

The warning from police comes after a similar message was issued last week about an “extremely toxic” and “lethal” batch of heroin which had been circulating in Pembrokeshire.

Police are reminding anyone who needs advice and support regarding drug use to contact Barod, who specialise in substance misuse support for adults and young people, or to dial 999 if they think someone’s life is at risk.
