Extreme heat to hit Wimbledon and Glastonbury this weekend

England is preparing for its second heat wave of 2025, with temperatures expected to exceed 30°C in the South and the Midlands this weekend.

A humid air mass linked to the US heat wave is driving the spike, and the Met Office warns it could surpass the year’s current high of 33.2°C, recorded in Surrey.

The extreme heat is expected to impact major summer events, including Wimbledon and Glastonbury, where temperatures could reach record highs.

Whipsnade Zoo has released footage of its Asian elephants cooling off and playing in their pool on the hot day.
