Extreme cold treatment centre in Glasgow opens to the public

A new-state-of-the-art facility has opened to the public, offering up to -135 degree, extreme cold treatment to help aid sports recovery, and ease medical conditions.

CryoLabs Glasgow offers whole-body cryotherapy to those looking to speed up recovery from exercise, reduce sporting injuries, increase immunity and improve their sleep quality.

The new Glasgow site is home to a six person professional chamber, open seven days a week.

It has already been booked for use by Scottish Premier League players, professional boxers, and a number of elite athletes from local Centres of Excellence for Sports.

The treatment is available in three-minute slots with books available through the CryoLab website.

As well as improving sporting performance and recovery, the extreme cold treatment can be used to ease symptoms of medical conditions including multiple sclerosis, arthritis, fibromyalgia skin conditions and anxiety, as well as improve sleep.

Ian Watson, director at CryoLabs, said: "Despite the advantages of extreme cold treatment being commonly known, accessibility to facilities offering professional clinical quality chambers has been the preserve of elite sports people.

"However, we want to offer those that like to keep fit, amateur sports players and those suffering from common medical conditions access to the best quality treatment too. The Glasgow site offers exactly the same technology used by the players of Glasgow Rangers FC and other top Premier League clubs."

Ian Saunders, CEO and co-founder at  CryoAction, added: "We’re pleased to have the opportunity to provide top quality cryotherapy to millions of people in Glasgow and beyond, and enable the general public access to the same quality cryotherapy that is used by our national sporting heroes.

"We hope to give those planning a 10k run or charity cycle the same sporting and recovery advantage as elite sports people. And improve the quality of life for thousands of people suffering with the symptoms of common illnesses which can be treated with cryotherapy."
