
A new street record is believed to have been set with the $2.01 million auction sale of a "knock-down rebuild" at 191 Bruce Street in The Junction last Saturday.
Simon Wall, of Simon Wall Property, had been guiding $1.5 million and said the property attracted 13 registered bidders.
Bidding opened at $1.2 million and rose rapidly to $1.9 million. The property comprised a two-bedroom home and Mr Wall described the result as an "extraordinary price for an unusual 460 square metre triangular-shaped block".
He said all interest was local.
Newcastle agents have quickly moved to switch auctions online for this weekend after the Hunter region was plunged into a snap seven-day lockdown on Thursday due to coronavirus cases in the area.
Ray White Newcastle and Lake Macquarie's Teresa Heighington said families had been "crawling all over" a four-bedroom house with a pool at 16 Bickton Close in Dudley that goes to auction at 11.30am on Saturday with a guide of $1 million.

Expectations are believed to be in the high $900,000 range for a three-bedroom home on a 740 square metres block of land at 4 Gurra Place, Charlestown that Belle Property Newcastle will take to auction at 10.30am on Saturday.

McGrath Newcastle City have reported strong enquiry for a four-bedroom house on 683 square metres of land at 21 Parkhill Parade, Waratah West that is set for auction with a guide of $470,000 at 11.15am on Saturday.

Robinson Property have a property with two dwellings at 174 Kings Road, New Lambton set for auction on Saturday at 11.15am with a guide of $850,000.
