Extra Covid testing to be rolled out in Mansfield

A Covid testing van is set to be deployed in Mansfield in an effort encourage more regular testing across the district.

The Mobile Testing Unit (MTU), for people without Covid symptoms, will be located in Warsop on a number of dates until the end of this month from Friday, September 10.

It will sit in Mansfield District Council's High Street car park, which is off Robert Bye Way on September 10, 12, 14, 19, 21 and 26 from 10am to 4.30pm.

This is in addition to the asymptomatic testing site at Mansfield Town Football Club.

The council hope that the van, which offers assisted testing, will encourage more people to do regular testing to help stop the spread of the virus in Mansfield.

The area in which the van will be located, Mansfield Town Centre & Broomhill, currently has a case rate of 311.8 per 100,000 people.

However, surrounding areas are somewhat higher. Newgate & Carr Bank has a rate of 540.4, Woodhouse, 728.0 and Yeoman Hill & Maun Valley, 489.4.

Everyone is encouraged to have twice weekly testing, even after being vaccinated.
