Extinction Rebellion protests London LIVE: Activists descend on Liverpool Street after blocking entrance at BBC Broadcasting House blockaded

Extinction Rebellion activists spread across London despite police insisting they stay in Trafalgar Square or face arrest.

The group blockaded BBC Broadcasting House in London as they begin a fifth day of protests in the capital and later protesters moved to Liverpool Street.

At least one hundred protesters were pictured outside the entrance to the building in Portland Place, central London, holding a huge banner which read: "This is an emergency."

Police said on Thursday evening that the total number of people arrested in relation to the protests, which began on Monday and are expected to last 14 days, was 1,112.
