Extinction Rebellion campaigners hold protest at QMC roundabout during rush hour

Environmental campaigners have been protesting at one of the city's busiest roundabouts during rush hour to get their climate change message across.

Around 20 activists from Extinction Rebellion stood at the Queen's Medical Centre roundabout, and when the lights turned red they stood in the road to protest.

They held up banners which read 'Climate Breakdown' and 'All I Want For Christmas Is A Future.'

The protest started at 8am on Tuesday, December 10 and was due to last until 9am.

Protest have also taken place in the city at Trent Bridge and Mansfield Road.

In April, the activists blocked Mansfield Road in six minute intervals from 8am to 9am during one of the busiest times of the day.

The movement is calling for a carbon neutral society and want affordable public transport and electric cars that are not polluting the air.

They also want to "draw voters' attention to the climate crisis" as the General Election heats up.
