An Extinction Rebellion protester dressed as Spiderman clambered onto the roof of Caffé Nero in Piccadilly Gardens .
Five protesters in total managed to get onto the roof of the building in the city centre on Sunday evening.
GMP and Greater Manchester Fire Service were called to the scene.
Photographs show the fire service providing ladders while police officers speak to the activists.
Two of the protesters can be seen sat on the roof of the building while draped in an banner.
After a short time the five protesters came down.
They have all been served with a dispersal order, which bans all five from entering the city centre for 24 hours.
A statement from GMP said: "Yesterday evening it was reported that five protesters had climbed onto the roof of Caffé Nero in Piccadilly Gardens in the city centre.
"Both officers and colleagues from the fire service engaged with the protesters and after a short time they came down.
"The protesters were served with a dispersal order, which prevents them from entering the city centre for 24 hours."
The Extinction Rebellion protest has taken over Deansgate in the city centre since Friday (August 30).
Activists have also attached themselves to the front door of Barclay's in Piccadilly Place and plan to hold a demonstration outside Manchester's Civil Justice centre to support fracking activists in court today.
