Extinction Rebellion protest to disrupt traffic in Braddon, Civic

A protest is likely to cause traffic disruptions in Braddon and Civic on Saturday morning, police say.

An Extinction Rebellion protest is expected to disrupt traffic between Haig Park and Glebe Park between 10am and 11.30am.

Police have urged motorists to plan an alternate route and avoid the area.

Extinction Rebellion organisers said the protest might slow traffic but would not be majorly disruptive.

Protesters will ride bicycles as part of a "swarming action" and have been told by organisers to maintain physical distance.

Organisers said they expected the protest, part of nationally coordinated events, to be finished by midday.
