Extinction Rebellion London: Angry peer takes on drumming protesters... in bath robe and slippers

A former Tory party treasurer stepped out of his Westminster home to confront Extinction Rebellion protesters — dressed in his bath robe and slippers.

Andrew Fraser, 63, left, a baron who sits in the House of Lords, said that “he had had enough” as drumming demonstrators passed up and down his street near the Houses of Parliament at about 9.15 am.

He approached a woman drummer and started banging her drum with his fists as astonished by- standers and protesters looked on.

The Old Etonian, an investment banker, told the Standard: “I’d had enough of the noise and disruption. It’s intimidating. I liken it to the marching bands in Northern Ireland.”

He added: “We have had sleepless nights and traffic has been blocked. Sometimes you need to drive somewhere. I banged the drum, there was no physical contact with the woman.”

He told a bystander after the confrontation: “I enjoyed that.”
