Extinction Rebellion campaigners target Goose Fair's Goosey

Goose Fair's much-loved mascot Goosey has been targeted by campaign group Extinction Rebellion.

The 6'6" tall bird landed in the middle of Mansfield Road roundabout yesterday morning (September 23) for its two week residency outside the Forest Recreation Ground, marking the countdown to the start of on Wednesday, October 2.

As predicted by Nottingham City Council's senior manger for the city, Tony Papkiewicz, it wasn't long before the half tonne statue was given an unofficial makeover.

Speaking yesterday to Nottinghamshire Live he said: "She ends up getting covered in all sorts. People have dressed her up in hats, coats, scarves..."

Indeed it was less than 24-hours before Extinction Rebellion campaigners dressed Goosey up in a scarf reading 'Love Goosey, Love Earth', along with the group's symbol.

The unofficial Twitter account for the mascot, @goosefairgoose, was quick to point out she wasn't a political goose but was impressed the campaigners had got to her so quickly.

She tweeted: "While I don't disagree, I am not a political goose. Mind you, they got to me pretty quickly!. #honk"
